Bulldogs Split Weekend Games
The Halton Hills Bulldogs weekend results may read like an up and down set of scores. However, after a poor start to Saturday's 12-4 loss to Nepean, the team showed what they are made of over the final 50 or so minutes of that game which rolled into a full 60-minute effort in a 13-10 win over Gloucester on Sunday.
Saturday's 7-0 early deficit at the hands of the Knights was something the Bulldogs would like to soon forget. The 2025 edition of the Jr. B Bulldogs used that start as inspiration to fuel a solid two-and-a-half periods against one of the league's top veteran-laden teams. The Knights boasted eight 21-year-olds in their lineup on Saturday night whereas the young and hungry Dogs have just one senior player on their roster this season.
Goaltender MJ Schwager stopped 40 of 48 shots he faced over 55 minutes of play in relief and kept the Bulldogs in the game. The offence never found its groove despite firing 57 shots at the Nepean goal and outshooting the Knights 57-55 on the evening.
On Sunday afternoon, a wild first period saw the Dogs fall behind 6-5 after one period of play. A 5-2 second period swung the momentum in Halton Hills' favour and they carried that into the third period to secure the 13-10 win. Brody Fletcher scored five times and Matthew Ford scored four to pace the Bulldogs offence.
There will be no rest for the Bulldogs as they take on West Durham on the road on Tuesday night at 7:30pm.
