Bulldogs Suffer First Loss

Playing their second game in way less than 24 hours, the Halton Hills Jr. B Bulldogs hit the road and travelled up the 400 for a Sunday afternoon battle with the Orillia Kings.  In the end, the Bulldogs third period rally came up just short dropping their first game of the season 12-8.

After the Dogs had dug themselves a 3-1 hole, a 5-minute major penalty was assessed to Orillia's Max Schryer for elbowing the Bulldogs Tyrell Luscombe to the head.  Luscombe left the game and did not return, but his Bulldogs teammates Owen O'Halloran and Brody Fletcher each struck for a power play goal to even the score and head to the dressing room tied 3-3 after one.

The first half of the second period was one the Dogs would like to soon forget.  The visitors were on the wrong side of a 6-0 run in 9:39, which proved to be the difference in the game.  Starter MJ Schwager was replaced by Carter Stephens who stopped 20 of 23 shots the rest of the way.

In the third period down 10-4, the Bulldogs got two quick goals from Matthew Ford just 22 seconds apart to draw Halton Hills back to within four, trailing 10-6.  Orillia would get one back but it was Ford with his fourth and Fletcher with his third to make it a three-goal game, trailing 11-8 with 7:20 to go.  That was as close as the Dogs would get as the Kings added an empty net goal in the final seconds to seal the 12-8 win.

The Bulldogs will now prepare for a three-game home stand that begins on Thursday night at 8pm when they host the Mimico Mountaineers.  Following that game, the Bulldogs will host Nepean Saturday at 7pm, and Gloucester Sunday at 1pm.

Don't forget, ALL Halton Hills Minor Lacrosse players are admitted free of charge to each and every Jr. B Bulldogs home game.
