Dogs Disarm Bombers in Barrie
The Halton Hills Jr. B Bulldogs put on a defensive clinic in a 10-2 road win against the Barrie Bombers on Sunday night at the Peggy Hill Team Recreation Centre to finish the season 11-9-0.
Winners of six of their last seven games, the Bulldogs now await the results of Monday's Green Gaels vs. Newmarket game to determine their first round opponent. Should the Green Gaels win, the Dogs will face Kahnawake. If Newmarket wins, the Dogs would face West Durham.
The Dogs balanced attack was led by Matthew Ford who tallied a goal and 3 assists for a 4-point night. Ford finished the regular season as the Dogs leading point getter with 89 points, good for 8th overall in the OJBLL.
Owen O'Halloran ended the season just two points behind Ford with 87 in his rookie campaign and placed 10th in league scoring. The '08 from Huntsville, ON was the leading freshman scorer in the East Conference and is a favourite to win the East Rookie-of-the-Year honour.
MJ Schwager was brilliant in goal, stopping 48 of 50 shots in the Bulldogs cage.
